01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Venturing north from central Asakusa into the quiet residential streets of Oku-Asakusa brings you to Nagami, an intimate kaiseki dining room. The interior centers on counter seating, creating a tranquil setting where owner-chef Nagami personally attends to every detail, from prep work and plating to table service. Sitting so close to the open kitchen allows you to observe each technique unfold while listening to thoughtful explanations of the dishes.

Seasonal Omakase and Artistic Dishware

Both lunch and dinner focus on seasonal omakase menus built around market ingredients. Grounded in Kyoto culinary technique, the multi-course meals range from pristine sashimi and grilled dishes to dashi-rich soups and seasonal clay-pot rice dishes (takikomi gohan). Chef Nagami matches each course with carefully curated ceramics, mindfully heating bowls and plates beforehand so the temperature complements the food.

Pairing with Japanese Wine and Sake

To accompany the meal, the drink menu highlights selections of sake as well as Japanese wines, which diners often praise for how naturally they harmonize with subtle washoku flavors. Beer and whisky are also available, offering varied ways to complement each stage of the dinner. Because seating is limited, the restaurant operates entirely by advance reservation.
